Tunwal E-Motors Limited, a National Stock Exchange-listed electric mobility company based in Pune, participated in a large-scale cleanliness and awareness drive along the Mula-Mutha River bank at Deccan, Pune. The initiative, titled “White T-Shirt Revolution – River Cleaning Drive,” brought together over 1200 students from multiple educational institutions across Pune to support environmental restoration efforts.
During the drive, volunteers collectively removed more than 600 kilograms of plastic waste, debris, and discarded materials from the riverfront. The collected waste was later handed over to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for proper segregation, processing, and disposal.
The Mula-Mutha River remains an important part of Pune’s cultural and ecological identity. However, rapid urbanisation and increasing pollution have significantly impacted the river ecosystem over the years. Recognising the urgent need for environmental conservation, Tunwal supported the student-led initiative by providing clean-up kits and actively participating in on-ground cleaning and awareness activities.
The initiative aimed to encourage civic responsibility while raising awareness about waste management, plastic pollution, and the importance of preserving urban water bodies. Students also conducted awareness campaigns highlighting the role of community participation in creating cleaner and greener cities.
The event witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities from different sectors, including Shri B. Shreenivas from the Priyadarshani Foundation, Smt. Yashwamati Thakur, Smt. Alpana Varpe, Corporator at Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Shri Abhay Chajjed from the Pune Marathon Committee, Smt. Vandana Chauhan, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Shri Satish Patil, Vice President, D.Y. Patil Group, and Shri Anil Kawade, Chairperson & IS Officer, Sugar Cooperation Department, Government of Maharashtra.
