Arunachal Pradesh has launched its first fleet of electric buses, with operations commencing from this state capital.
The initiative, flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on the occasion of World Environment Day, marks the beginning of a statewide shift towards clean mobility solutions.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu hailed the rollout as a transformative move to reduce carbon emissions, enhance public transport connectivity, and build a greener, more sustainable future for the state.
The electric bus service will soon expand to key towns including Namsai, Tezu, Pasighat, and Roing.
“These e-buses represent more than just a transportation upgrade—they’re a commitment to the health of our people and the planet,” said the Chief Minister.
“By adopting clean mobility, we’re not just moving people, we’re moving toward a more sustainable Arunachal.”
The initiative reflects the government’s larger mission to integrate eco-friendly practices into urban infrastructure and promote environmental consciousness across all levels of governance.
