BPCL debuted its first indigenous alkaline electrolyser at the India Energy Week 2024 (IEW) in Goa, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi observed its operation. This electrolysis process, which generates hydrogen from alkaline water, represents a significant leap forward in industrial-scale hydrogen production. Developed in collaboration with BARC, the prototype boasts exceptional cell efficiency and resilience in alkaline environments.
In support of India’s ambitious goal to produce 5 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030, BPCL has outlined plans for a 5 MW Green Hydrogen Plant at Bina Refinery and a 500 KW Integrated Hydrogen Refueling Station at CIAL. These endeavors resonate with the ethos of “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” and “Vocal for Local,” furthering India’s journey towards energy self-reliance.
BPCL is showcasing its strides in green hydrogen production at the IEW 2024 Hydrogen Pavilion, spotlighting India’s indigenous prowess in the hydrogen sector.
