Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), under its Samarth by Hyundai initiative, has announced a landmark partnership with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) for the upcoming IndianOil World Para Athletics Championships 2025.
This collaboration highlights HMIL’s commitment to supporting para-athletes and promoting an inclusive Samarth Bharat.
India Hosts Championships for the First Time
For the very first time, India will host the World Para Athletics Championships. The event will take place from September 25 to October 5, 2025, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
More than 1,000 athletes from over 100 nations will compete across 186 medal events, making this one of the largest para-sporting events in the world.

Speaking about the announcement, Unsoo Kim, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said:

The Samarth Para-Sports Programme
HMIL’s efforts go beyond this global event. Through the Samarth Para-Sports Programme, Hyundai is actively nurturing future Paralympic stars.
Currently, the programme supports 26 para-athletes in partnership with leading NGOs. Since its launch, athletes under this initiative have achieved:
- 60+ international medals
- 40+ national medals
- 7 qualifications for the Paris Paralympics 2024
- 2 medal wins at Paris Paralympics 2024

At the upcoming championships, five athletes from the 73-member Indian team are supported by Hyundai’s Samarth initiative.
