U Power Limited(Nasdaq:UCAR), a provider of AI-powered solutions for energy grids and intelligent transport, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SAIC Hongyan Automotive Co., Ltd. and UNEX EV.
The partnership will introduce battery-swapping compatible heavy trucks in Thailand. The companies will also explore opportunities in Southeast Asia, Latin America, Europe, Hong Kong SAR, and Macau SAR.
Large-Scale EV Deployment in Thailand
The agreement includes:
- 3,000 electric heavy-duty tractors for long-haul transportation.
- 1,200 electric port-specific trucks for short-distance operations.
This initiative supports Thailand’s push for green, sustainable logistics. It also targets major highway transport operators and port enterprises.
Roles of Each Partner
- U Power will build and operate smart battery-swapping stations.
- UNEX EV will adapt SAIC Hongyan trucks for battery swapping, develop battery modules, and promote truck sales in Thailand.
- SAIC Hongyan will provide truck prototypes and technical support to ensure compatibility.
Together, the three companies will create a scalable electrification model for commercial trucking.
