AUMOVIO: Continental’s Automotive Group Rebrands for a Future-Ready Mobility Landscape
In a major strategic move, Continental AUMOVIO future mobility division has rebranded as AUMOVIO, now spearheading the company’s shift toward software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and smart transportation systems. The rebrand is not just cosmetic — it signals Continental’s deeper commitment to mobility innovation, data-centric technologies, and future-ready solutions.
What is AUMOVIO?
AUMOVIO is the result of Continental consolidating its automotive expertise into a lean, agile technology and electronics company. The rebrand reflects a sharper focus on emerging tech, SDVs, and end-to-end future mobility solutions.
“The ‘IAA Mobility 2025’ is the ideal platform to introduce AUMOVIO to the automotive world – with exciting products and pioneering innovations,” said Philipp von Hirschheydt, CEO of AUMOVIO. “Together with our customers, we can shape the future of mobility more efficiently.”
Green Electric Caliper: A New Standard for EVs
One of the highlights of the rebrand is the Green Electric Caliper, engineered specifically for large, narrow tires of electric vehicles. This innovation eliminates the need for hydraulic fluid and reduces overall vehicle weight.
The result? Improved range, lower production costs, and reduced emissions. For OEMs, it also means simplified vehicle assembly and greater platform flexibility.
This aligns well with the rising EV innovation momentum seen across India, such as Oben Electric’s upcoming Rorr EZ launch.
Revolutionizing Chassis Design with the Corner Module
AUMOVIO’s next-gen corner module integrates the engine, brake, steering, and suspension into a compact chassis unit.
Designed for passenger vehicles, this module features:
- 150-degree wheel-specific steering
- Full by-wire architecture
- Scalable drive-and-brake unit on the wheel
This compact integration enhances maneuverability, improves efficiency, and maximizes space — a future-forward approach as the industry pivots toward SDVs.
Smarter Autonomy with Scalable Driving Systems
The company will unveil Xelve, a modular system built for assisted through highly automated driving (Levels 2 to 4). Key components include:
- Xelve Park for automated parking
- Xelve Drive for AI-enhanced human-like driving
- Xelve Pilot for Level 4 fallback systems
Xelve is performance-optimized and scalable, enabling faster adoption across both mass-market and premium segments, similar to recent consolidations in the global commercial vehicle space — like Tata Motors’ acquisition of Iveco.
Better Night Vision with AI-Enhanced Cameras
AUMOVIO also introduces an AI-supported night vision camera that improves image clarity in low-light environments. This technology is vital for advancing autonomous driving systems and ensures improved driver and pedestrian safety in all conditions.
Innovative Window Projection for Driver Interaction
AUMOVIO’s Window Projection system displays content directly on the vehicle’s side window. From showing battery charge level to personalized branding like a favorite sports team logo, this system uses a mini projector, dimmable glass, and dynamic software — enabling seamless interaction even before the driver steps inside.
Integrated Road to Cloud Platform
The Road to Cloud platform provides an end-to-end infrastructure for SDVs. Key features include:
- Scalable server-zone architectures
- Standardized OS and middleware
- Over-the-air (OTA) updates
- Advanced cybersecurity modules
It supports everything from entry-level cars to high-end vehicles, giving automakers robust tools to innovate efficiently and securely.
