The Indian Auto LPG Coalition (IAC) has expressed its support for Renault’s reported development of an LPG-powered Duster AWD. The coalition views this as an important step towards promoting fuel diversity in India. They believe that adopting a multi-fuel strategy, including Auto LPG, is vital for meeting consumer needs and reducing vehicular emissions.
Despite ongoing efforts to reduce air pollution, numerous Indian cities continue to face hazardous air quality. A recent report reveals that PM2.5 levels nationwide have decreased by 27% between 2019 and 2024, yet cities like Delhi remain among the most polluted. The IAC emphasizes that adopting cleaner alternative fuels, such as Auto LPG, is essential to expedite air quality improvements.
Suyash Gupta, Director General, Indian Auto LPG Coalition, stated that “LPG-compatible Duster AWD would offer Indian consumers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly choice. He emphasised the importance of a diversified approach to transportation fuels, highlighting Auto LPG as a proven, readily available alternative with lower emissions and cost benefits. He also noted the role of hybrid technologies in maximising efficiency while reducing pollution. ”
