Tata Motors has inaugurated a registered vehicle scrapping facility named Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect, in Guwahati. This facility, the first of its kind in the Northeast, has the capacity to dismantle 15,000 end-of-life vehicles annually. Operated in partnership with Axom Platinum Scrappers, the facility is equipped to handle both passenger and commercial vehicles across all brands, following India’s vehicle scrappage policy.
The Guwahati facility is Tata Motors‘ seventh RVSF in the country, with existing centres in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, and Pune. Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, stated that the company’s RVSFs across seven states collectively have the capacity to dismantle over 100,000 vehicles annually.
The Re.Wi.Re facility in Guwahati features advanced, fully digitalised, and paperless operations. It employs cell-type and line-type dismantling methods for passenger and commercial vehicles. Dedicated stations ensure the safe dismantling and disposal of components such as tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids, and gases. Each vehicle undergoes a thorough documentation and dismantling process, adhering to stringent standards of safety and environmental responsibility.
With its growing network of scrapping facilities, Tata Motors is driving the adoption of environmentally conscious practices, while also contributing to local economies through job creation.
