Tata Elxsi has announced a collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to advance Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) development by leveraging Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions. This partnership aims to utilize Qualcomm’s virtual system-on-chips (VSoCs) for cloud-native development, creating innovative solutions for the next generation of passenger, commercial, and off-highway vehicles.
The collaboration, scheduled to be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, will feature Tata Elxsi’s AVENIR SDV suite integrated with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC. This live demonstration will highlight real-world applications, including mixed-critical workloads for infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), showcasing howized models can streamline SDV development.
Tata Elxsi’s collaboration with Qualcomm concentrates on developing a virtual electronic control unit (ECU) platform, minimizing the dependency on physical hardware in the initial phases of development. By facilitating cloud-native software validation and development, this initiative seeks to expedite product development lifecycles, ensuring quicker market readiness for advanced mobility solutions.
Shaju S, Vice President and Head of the Transportation Business Unit at Tata Elxsi, stated “The integration of our AVENIR suite with Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions provides automakers with scalable and future-ready platforms, helping them realize the potential of next-generation mobility.”
The partnership also provides a cloud-based environment for developers offering cost-effective and early access to high-performance computing capabilities. This approach enables pre- and post-production software development, allowing continuous feature updates throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle.
Laxmi Rayapudi, Vice President of Automotive Software Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, added “Tata Elxsi’s collaboration with Snapdragon virtual SoCs grants the developer community early hardware access, thereby reducing the time-to-market for new applications. The capability to continuously update features presents OEMs with new opportunities to enhance the consumer experience and create innovative business models.”
