JSW MG Motor India, through its community service arm MG Sewa, has partnered with Delhi Police and the NGO Pahal to empower 50 women under the ‘Wings to Fly’ initiative. The program provides professional driving training, assistance in obtaining driving licenses, and employment opportunities, aiming to promote economic independence among women.
The initiative employs Motor vehicles, including the Astor and Comet EV, to provide hands-on training. The vehicles’ responsive handling significantly boosted confidence of new drivers. The programme extends beyond training, offering infrastructure and promoting healthy driving habits. With 16% of the participants already employed by Delhi Police, initiative shown tangible. Additional recruitment interest has been generated from organisations such as BluSmart andkha, with discussions to explore roles in valet services and other driver-centric opportunities.
The ‘Wings to Fly’ aims to reduce the gender disparity in professional driving offering women a sustainable source of income. Although the programme success is, its long-term impact relies on support and scalability of initiatives.
