Ducati unveiled the newest version of the Panigale V2 at the EICMA 2024 motorcycle show in Milan, featuring a new design, enhanced performance capabilities, and a significant weight reduction. The latest Panigale V2 is available in two models—the Standard and the S—both designed to reinforce Ducati’s standing in the supersport motorcycle category, embodying the distinctive characteristics that distinguish the brand.
The design of the Panigale V2 is heavily influenced by the Ducati Panigale V4, yet it retains its distinctive character. Ducati has enhanced the bike’s fairing with sharper lines and creases, adding ducts that improve passive cooling. These ducts are particularly beneficial for controlling engine heat during slow, city rides. The front of the bike features twin LED headlights that are more streamlined and bold than its predecessor’s. The rear design takes cues from the Panigale 1199 R, notably in the arrangement of the LED taillights.
The Panigale V2 is equipped with a new 890cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine that produces 120 bhp at 10,750 rpm and 93.3 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm. Although this power output is marginally less than the previous model, the new Panigale V2 benefits from a significant weight reduction, with the S variant being 17 kilograms lighter. Ducati asserts that this reduced weight, along with improved aerodynamics, ensures the Panigale V2’s lap times remain competitive with its predecessor.
The model’s distinctiveness is further enhanced by the twin underseat exhaust pipes, which are designed to deliver a unique exhaust note. The Panigale V2 comes with an array of electronic aids such as various riding modes, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control, and a bi-directional quick shifter. These features are accessible to riders through a new TFT display that offers three modes: Road, Road Pro, and Race.
The motorcycle is designed with an aluminum monocoque frame, crafted to maximize stiffness and reduce weight. The Standard variant is outfitted with a 43mm Marzocchi USD fork and a Kayaba monoshock, both adjustable. The S variant upgrades to an Ohlins suspension system, acclaimed for its exceptional performance and responsiveness. Each model sports 17-inch wheels clad in Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires, ensuring the necessary traction and handling for spirited riding.
