InstaVolt, the UK’s ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging provider, has partnered with Octopus Energy for Business to supply its network with 100% renewable electricity. Drivers of electric vehicles can now recharge their batteries with energy sourced entirely from the sun and wind at over 1,700 InstaVolt charging points throughout the UK.
Octopus already provides approximately one-third of the electricity for Britain’s public charging network, and this agreement establishes InstaVolt as Octopus’ biggest charge point operator client.
InstaVolt will participate in Octopus Energy’s innovative ‘Plunge Pricing’ scheme. This initiative from Octopus’ electric vehicle charging platform, Electroverse, offers drivers more affordable public charging rates during periods of high green energy availability.
Last year, InstaVolt became part of Octopus Electroverse’s innovative ‘one card, one app’ model. Electroverse has since grown to become Europe’s largest consumer electric vehicle charging network, offering access to 850,000 chargers across 950 brands in 40 countries.
InstaVolt’s charging stations are available at more than 800 sites across the UK, including popular stop-off points such as Costa Coffee, McDonald’s, Co-op, and Bannatyne Gyms. The company has recently extended its reach to Iceland and is set to launch in Spain, Portugal, and Ireland shortly.
Their top-tier, dependable chargers are capable of powering an average electric vehicle from 20% to 80% in just about the time it takes for a coffee break, approximately 15-20 minutes.
Octopus is embarking on the ‘Octobahn’ – an epic road trip from London to Berlin in electric vehicles, joined by EV enthusiasts and influencers who will be charging their vehicles using Electroverse. The trip culminates at the WIRED Energy Tech Summit in Berlin on Thursday, 10 October.
Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy for Business, said: “Powering InstaVolt’s ultra-rapid chargers with 100% green electricity means drivers can top up with the power of the sunshine and breeze. It’s brilliant to be expanding our partnership after InstaVolt joined Electroverse last year. With our ‘Plunge Pricing’ innovation, when green energy is abundant and prices drop, InstaVolt customers can charge up at these times and save money too.”
Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt, said: “InstaVolt is excited to strengthen our ongoing partnership with Octopus Energy. By powering our chargers with Octopus’ green energy, we can further deliver on our promise to provide 100% renewable energy across our charging network. This means our customers can charge their vehicles knowing they’re using the cleanest energy available. Additionally, this collaboration allows us to participate in Octopus’ ‘Plunge Pricing’ events, offering our customers lower charging costs when green energy is abundant, benefiting both their wallets and their consciences.”
