The new Maruti Swift CNG variants boast the highest fuel efficiency in their segment, delivering 32.85 km/kg. The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift premium hatchback, which launched in May this year, consistently ranks among the top in its class, just behind the WagonR. To further strengthen this model’s appeal, the company introduced the S-CNG version earlier this month. The Swift CNG is Maruti Suzuki’s latest CNG-powered offering for the Indian market, and initial units have begun arriving at dealerships.
Maruti Swift CNG Hits Showrooms
Available in three variants – VXi, VXi (O), and ZXi – the new Maruti Swift S-CNG is priced between Rs 8.19-9.19 lakh, carrying a premium of Rs 90,000 over its petrol counterpart. Maruti Suzuki is also offering the new Swift CNG through its subscription program, allowing customers to use the car for a monthly fee starting at Rs 21,628, which covers registration, insurance, maintenance, and more.
Despite being priced higher than competitors like the Tata Tiago CNG and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG, the Maruti Swift offers additional value. This comes not only in terms of features, technology, and safety but also in fuel efficiency, which is the highest in its segment at 32.85 km/kg.
The new CNG-powered Swift hatchback retains its sporty design and adds new features in the lower variants, such as the Smart Play Pro infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
As highlighted in a video by sansCARi sumit, Maruti Suzuki has introduced an external CNG filler with the 4th Gen Swift S-CNG, which requires manual locking and unlocking. The previous generation had the CNG filler integrated into the petrol filler cap, which could be operated internally. The CNG cylinder remains a single-piece unit, unlike the twin-cylinder setups offered by some competitors.
Maruti Suzuki Swift S-CNG – Engine Specifications
The Maruti Swift S-CNG is powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Z Series petrol engine that delivers 80 hp and 112 Nm torque in standard mode. However, in CNG mode, the output drops to 69 hp and 102 Nm torque. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, offering superior fuel efficiency of 32.85 km/kg. However, the actual mileage may vary depending on driving conditions, skills, and other factors.
In contrast, the earlier 3rd-gen Swift CNG model offered a mileage of 30.9 km/kg. Besides improved fuel economy, Maruti also claims that the new Swift S-CNG reduces CO2 emissions by around 6% compared to its predecessor.
With the new Maruti Swift S-CNG arriving at company showrooms, deliveries are scheduled to commence this weekend. Initial deliveries will begin in Gujarat, followed by Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana.
