The electric mobility sector in Southeast Asia is growing fast. In the Philippines, VinFast Auto Philippines Inc. (VinFast Philippines), V-Green Charging Station Development Philippines Inc. (V-Green), and Green and Smart Mobility Philippines Inc. (Green GSM Philippines) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BDO Unibank Inc. (BDO).
This partnership aims to expand EV access and build a stronger clean energy ecosystem in the country.
Expanding EV Adoption with Financial Support
VinFast Philippines, a subsidiary of Vingroup JSC, will work with BDO to create tailored financing programs for both retail and corporate customers. BDO will also provide a wide range of financial solutions, including cash management, consumer banking, leasing, and insurance services.
“At VinFast, we view sustainable transportation as more than just a technological shift—it’s a commitment to future generations,” said Duong Thi Thu Trang, Deputy CEO of Global Sales, VinFast. “Partnering with BDO allows us to empower Filipinos with greater access to EVs while shaping a smarter, greener, and more livable future.”
Building Charging Infrastructure
V-Green has already secured approvals to roll out EV charging stations at four SM Supermalls. Expansion plans include additional outlets at Alfamart stores, educational institutions, and other key locations within the BDO–SM ecosystem.
“Charging infrastructure is essential for sustainable EV growth,” said Nguyen Thanh Duong, CEO of V-Green. “With BDO, we can fast-track deployment of convenient and reliable charging solutions across the Philippines.”
Scaling Up All-Electric Taxi Fleets
Green GSM Philippines, which operates the country’s first all-electric taxi fleet using VinFast vehicles, has been integrated with BDO’s digital banking platform since its launch in June 2025.
“Our mission is to deliver cleaner, safer, and more transparent public transport,” said Dao Quy Phi, CEO of Green GSM Philippines. “With BDO, we can expand our driver network and scale our fleet sustainably, while helping reduce emissions and modernize urban transport.”
BDO’s Role in Green Mobility
Charles M. Rodriguez, Executive Vice President and Head of the Institutional Banking Group at BDO Unibank, emphasized the bank’s role in driving this transition.
“Our collaboration with VinFast, V-Green, and Green GSM supports the wider adoption of EVs and green infrastructure in the Philippines. By providing financial solutions, we are enabling businesses to build a future-ready transport sector.”
A Holistic EV Ecosystem for the Philippines
Together, VinFast, V-Green, and Green GSM are creating a complete electric mobility ecosystem—from EV distribution to charging stations and electric taxi services. With BDO’s financial backing and the SM Group’s extensive network, the partnership aims to deliver accessible, modern, and sustainable transport solutions for Filipinos.
