ThunderPlus and Turno have partnered to establish ultra-fast 1 MW charging stations along major highways in India. The initiative kicks off with installations on the Hyderabad-Vizag corridor, aiming to accelerate the shift to electric mobility for heavy commercial vehicles and electric buses.
These charging hubs are part of ThunderPlus’ ‘One District, One Thunder’ initiative, which seeks to install at least one ultra-fast charging station in every district nationwide. By incorporating high-capacity chargers into highway networks, the collaboration aims to provide a seamless experience for fleet operators and logistics providers using electric commercial vehicles.
Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus, highlighted the importance of reliable and extensive charging infrastructure to reduce charging anxiety and promote faster adoption of electric mobility solutions.
Turno, through its subsidiary Electrigo, focuses on reducing diesel reliance in commercial transportation. Founder Sudhindra Reddy stated that Electrigo plans to replace 10 crore bus kilometers of diesel usage with electric alternatives by 2026. He described the partnership with ThunderPlus as a pivotal step in India’s transition to a greener and more sustainable transport system.
