Suzuki Motor de Colombia S.A. (SMDC), a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, has achieved a major milestone with the production of 2 million motorcycles on 11 September 2025 in Colombia.

Celebration of the Milestone
A special ceremony was held at the Pereira, Risaralda plant to mark the achievement. The event was attended by:
- Takasugi Masahiro, Ambassador of Japan to Colombia
- Juan Jose Orozco, President of SMDC
- Takashi Ise, Managing Officer, Executive General Manager, Motorcycle Operations of Suzuki
Around 220 people, including dealers and suppliers, also joined the celebration.
SMDC’s Journey
SMDC began motorcycle production in February 1982. Over the years, the company has produced 14 different models, including the popular GN125 and GIXXER series.
The 2 million-unit milestone was achieved in 43 years. The GN125, in particular, has earned a strong reputation in Colombia for its durability and fuel efficiency.

Exports and Sales
Currently, SMDC exports motorcycles to six countries:
- Ecuador
- Venezuela
- Bolivia
- Peru
- El Salvador
- Chile
In FY2024, the company also recorded its highest-ever annual sales, reaching 133,391 units.

For over 40 years, SMDC has contributed to the growth of Colombia’s motorcycle industry. Suzuki aims to continue offering innovative, reliable, and fuel-efficient products.
