JSW MG Motor India has debuted the Windsor, a much-anticipated mass-market electric vehicle. MG says it is the country’s first CUV that combines the utility of an SUV with the comfort of a sedan. The Windsor, which is based on the ‘Pure EV Platform’, is designed to provide a comfortable ride. The MG Windsor starts at ₹9.99 lakh and offers unique ownership programs and incentives, including Battery as a Service.
Battery As A Service
The initial price is ₹ 9.99 lakh, but consumers would pay ₹ 3.5 per km for the battery under a special loan arrangement. With this decision, the firm hopes to make the Windsor’s ownership costs equivalent to those of ordinary ICE SUVs.
Free Charging & Buyback Plan
In addition, the business is extending a lifetime battery guarantee to the first MG Windsor owner. It also includes a one-year free public charging subscription through the eHUB by MG app. JSW MG Motor India is also introducing the Windsor’s 3-60 buyback option, which guarantees a 60% value retention after three years and 45,000 km.
Specs
The Windsor comes equipped with an IP67-certified PMS motor. It draws power from a 38 kWh Li-ion battery pack. There are four driving modes (Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport), with peak outputs of 136 hp and 200 Nm. The advertised range is 331 kilometres, and it can be charged in 40 minutes using a DC fast charger.
Interior
The CUV has a class-leading wheelbase of 2,700 millimetres, resulting in a roomy interior. The rear bench has a bubbled leather texture for comfort and can be reclined to 135 degrees. In addition, an Infinity View Glass sunroof enhances the interior experience. The infotainment device features a 15.6-inch touchscreen display that is positioned on the dashboard and takes centre stage.
Design
The Windsor has an upright face and a high-set bonnet. The headlight assembly is vertically divided, while the taillights have a similar rounded design with a connected light bar. Overall, the design is rounded and modern.
