Notably, the company said on Tuesday that its first electric vehicle will include a 60kWh battery and a range of over 500 km. Additionally, the business intends to export its first EV to markets outside of Japan and Europe.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the nation’s largest passenger car manufacturer, intends to create the full ecosystem of EVs, notably addressing problems of charging infrastructure, ahead of the debut of its first electric vehicle, the eVX, which will be in the mid-SUV market. Last year at the Auto Expo, the eVX concept—which will be in the mid-SUV segment—was on display.
During a press briefing, Maruti Suzuki India’s Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales), Partho Banerjee, stated that the business will be tackling issues including range anxiety, charging infrastructure, and EV residual value. “We are not only going to launch the product, we are going to basically provide a complete ecosystem for the customers who are going to be part of this EV family,” said Banerjee.
Banerjee claims that 95% of customers of electric vehicles already charge their vehicles at home, based on studies from Maruti Suzuki. “The customers should have peace of mind while travelling… At the end of the day, having a good infrastructure matters. We are going to come up with the holistic program by which we are going to support the customers,” said Banerjee.
