Mahindra has added a major audio upgrade to its Thar Roxx SUV, the top-of-the-line AX7L variant of which now gets an 9-speaker sound system driven by Dolby Atmos. The move is aimed at improving the overall in-cabin audio experience, though everything else available on the AX7L trim remains the same.
The Thar Roxx lineup begins from ₹12.99 lakh and goes up to ₹23.39 lakh for the AX7L version that’s loaded to the brim. The AX7L trim already had a premium 9-speaker Harman Kardon setup. With the update, the same features a 4-channel audio system with Dolby Atmos. The Thar Roxx becomes the first SUV in the world to integrate this, says Mahindra.
This trait has also been noticed in Mahindra’s future EVs — the BE 6, XEV 9e — and the XUV700.
Other than the improved sound system, the AX7L still has amenities like a panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and a powered 6-way driver’s seat. Top-of-the-line variants also get Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and 360-degree cameras for added protection.
Under the bonnet, the Thar Roxx comes with two engine variants: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel, both being available in manual and automatic trims. Four-wheel drive, however, is reserved only for diesel versions.
To cater to the increasing demand, Mahindra has intensified production of the Thar Roxx and managed to minimize its waiting period. Presently, the waiting period is between 4 to 6 months based on the variant.
