Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), part of the Jupiter Group, has launched 10 ft and 20 ft containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The first 10 ft BESS has been supplied in partnership with GMMCO, a CKA Birla Group company, to Greenlit, a Mumbai-based subsidiary of Recube. Greenlit drives decarbonisation across the events, entertainment, and hospitality sectors.
JEM plans to expand this partnership with GMMCO to roll out more sustainable solutions across India.
Fully In-House, Vertically Integrated Design
JEM developed the BESS entirely in-house, from container fabrication to battery manufacturing and system integration. This makes JEM one of the few vertically integrated companies in India’s energy storage segment.
The air-cooled systems feature a modular rack-based design and offer capacities from 241 kWh to 3 MWh. Built at JEM’s Indore and Bangalore facilities, these systems are designed for easy transport, robust performance in harsh conditions, and deployment across diverse clean energy applications, including:
- Diesel generator (DG) replacement
- Solar storage
- Energy shifting
- Backup power for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sectors
Scalable Solutions for Domestic and Global Markets
The launch of the 10 ft and 20 ft containerised BESS marks a significant step in delivering scalable, domestically built energy storage for India.
Moreover, JEM will export its first 20 ft BESS unit to Africa in October. The company also plans to launch liquid-cooled BESS systems designed for grid-scale applications.
JEM’s Indore plant will scale annual production from 1 GWh to 5 GWh over the next three years, addressing the growing C&I and utility market demand.
Modular Design and Key Specifications
JEM’s containerised BESS features:
- Air-cooled modular design
- Capacities from 241 kWh to 3 MWh
- Designed for DG replacement, mobile ESS, solar storage, energy shifting
- Built to stringent IEC standards with certifications underway
- 10-year lifespan
These systems support round-the-clock clean energy, reduce carbon footprints, and enable resilient, low-carbon energy infrastructure for industries.
Industry Partnerships and Strategic Support
Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Group, said:
“With the launch of our modular 10 ft and 20 ft containerised BESS, JEM marks a key milestone. These systems highlight our in-house design, engineering, and manufacturing strength. We expect this segment to scale rapidly and become a cornerstone of India’s clean energy future.”
Pankaj Kumar Jha, Senior VP at GMMCO, added:
“We are proud to partner with JEM to launch containerised BESS. With our pan-India reach, we aim to help industries transition to sustainable, round-the-clock clean power.”
Arshad Nawaz, Dy GM at GMMCO, emphasized:
“The BESS will provide reliable, continuous clean energy, helping the C&I sector lower its carbon footprint. Together, we are committed to a sustainable and resilient energy future.”
Driving India’s Clean Energy Transition
JEM’s containerised BESS portfolio directly supports India’s Net Zero 2070 vision. By enabling:
- Deeper renewable integration
- Reduced carbon intensity across industries
- A resilient energy storage backbone
…JEM contributes to a cleaner, self-reliant, and sustainable energy future.
The company is well-positioned to expand domestically and internationally, supporting industries in their transition to renewable energy while helping India achieve its Net Zero and clean energy goals.
