At the Huawei Global Electric Power Summit during HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, Huawei released the Global Digitalization and Intelligence Index (GDII) Report for the Power Industry. The report provides power companies worldwide with quantitative evaluation tools and strategic guidance for building future digital power systems.
The Importance of Real-Time Grid Monitoring
Jo Cops, Chairman of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), highlighted in his opening speech that with the growing adoption of PV systems, electric vehicle charging stations, and microgrids, monitoring low-voltage grids in real time has become essential for maintaining stable power systems.
Digital and Intelligent Enablement: A Survival Essential
David Sun, CEO of Huawei’s Electric Power Digitalization BU, emphasized that digital and intelligent tools are no longer just efficiency enhancers—they are now critical for addressing uncertainties in the future power system. AI, he noted, has evolved from an “efficiency tool” to a survival essential.

Huawei’s Multi-Layered Technical System
Guided by the principles of “intelligent and robust main network, medium-voltage integration, low-voltage transparency, high speed and security, and space-ground integration,” Huawei has developed a multi-layered system based on scenario applications + cloud-pipe-edge-device synergy. This system provides intelligent solutions across power generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption, helping companies achieve digital transformation and sustainable growth.
Global Collaboration in Action
During the summit, Huawei and State Grid Shaanxi jointly unveiled the 2025 Global Electric Power Showcase. Through large-scale innovation and verification in Shaanxi, they achieved transparency in low voltage 400V transformer districts, enabling real-time perception, centralized management, and rapid response for distributed new energy management.
Voices from the Global Power Industry
Industry leaders also shared insights on digital transformation. Charles Tlouane, COO of City Power, South Africa, and Simon Dezsö, Deputy CEO of Hungary’s MAVIR, discussed the challenges and practical experiences their companies faced while going digital.
Looking Ahead
Huawei plans to continue injecting intelligence into core power production scenarios, supporting global power companies in their journey toward a smarter and more sustainable future.
