SASTRA Deemed University, one of India’s premier institutions for engineering and scientific education, has partnered with Ansys—now part of Synopsys—to establish the Ansys-SASTRA Center of Excellence (CoE) for Advanced Space and Defense Technologies at its Thanjavur campus.
Equipped with Ansys’ world-class simulation software and SASTRA’s high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, the CoE will focus on:
- Structural and thermal analysis for aerospace systems
- Multiphysics simulations for space applications
- Mission reliability and safety modeling
- Propulsion, material engineering, and electromagnetics for radar and defense communications
This strategic initiative aims to empower students, faculty, and researchers to solve complex engineering challenges in aerospace and defense. It also supports key national missions like Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Gati Shakti, contributing toward India’s vision of becoming self-reliant in advanced technologies.
“India’s great ambitions in the space and defense sectors require a new generation of engineers with deep technical skills and real-world experience,” said Mike Yeager, Area Vice President, Ansys India and Japan. “This partnership with SASTRA will help bridge the skills gap by offering access to simulation tools that foster innovation and competitiveness.”
Murali Pullela, Regional Sales Director at Ansys, added: “Our collaboration gives aspiring engineers the domain expertise and hands-on experience needed to make meaningful contributions to high-impact projects.”
Prof. S. Vaidhyasubramaniam, Vice-Chancellor of SASTRA, commented: “The Center of Excellence aligns with our mission to integrate advanced industrial practices into academic learning. With access to Ansys’ cutting-edge platforms, our students are better prepared to lead innovation in space and defense sectors.”
