Land Rover has finally revealed the 2025 Defender, introducing a set of minor refinements to its exterior and interior, as well as a major cabin enhancement with the aim of keeping the world-famous SUV fresh and competitive. The updates are intended to keep the Defender in robust market standing and win over new customers.
A Land Rover Bestseller Forever
The Defender has been the most influential vehicle in Land Rover’s range of the last decade. Its old-school appearance, unstinting presence, and off-road ability have won the hearts of enthusiasts everywhere. As significant as the model is, Land Rover has made sure the car remains current across all three body forms — Defender 90, 110, and 130.
Though a precise timeline for the launch hasn’t been finalized, nor a final list of markets where it will initially launch, there is a high chance that the revised Defender will eventually make its way to India too.
Significant Infotainment Upgrade Dominates Interior Refresh
The standout interior upgrade of the 2025 Defender is the presence of an increased 13.1-inch free-standing infotainment screen, which has replaced the outgoing 11.4-inch setup. The update adds a more contemporary and technology-oriented look to the cabin, providing additional screen space for Land Rover’s Pivi Pro infotainment system.
Other interior adjustments involve a restyled center console with a sliding lid over the cup holders, a new driver attention monitor camera mounted on the steering column, and the addition of Land Rover’s Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control. This new system adjusts speed automatically according to terrain undulations in order to match the driver’s chosen comfort level.
Subtle Yet Stylish Exterior Updates
The 2025 Defender is also treated to subtle cues on the outside. New cues in the form of bumper designs feature accents painted in Black or Carpathian Grey Satin/Silicon Silver. There’s now a Gloss Black grille, together with a darkened oval Land Rover badge. “DEFENDER” lettering and wheel center caps also get Gloss Black treatment.
Other styling upgrades involve freshly textured finishes for the side vents and bonnet inserts. The headlamps have gained two LED cubes on either side of the signature round LED units, while the tail lights have been made sportier by having a darkened tone.
Powertrain Options Likely to Carry Over
Under the bonnet, the 2025 Defender will probably come with its current line of engines. These range from a 4.4L Twin Turbo V8, a 5.0L Supercharged V8, to a 3.0L inline-six diesel, and plug-in hybrid electric versions.
