NHAI to Charge Double Toll for Vehicles Without Properly Affixed FASTag

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued guidelines to charge double toll fees for vehicles entering toll lanes without a FASTag affixed on the inside of the front windshield. This measure aims to prevent delays at toll plazas and minimize inconvenience to other highway users. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) have been sent to all fee collection agencies and concessionaires to enforce this rule. Clear signage will inform users of the penalties, and CCTV footage with Vehicle Registration Numbers (VRN) will be recorded for non-compliance. FASTags not properly affixed are not eligible for Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) and will incur double toll fees. Issuer banks are instructed to ensure proper affixation of FASTags at the point of issuance.
