Eastman Auto and Power Ltd (EAPL) has entered into a strategic partnership with MTOW Mobility Private Limited (Urja Mobility). The collaboration aims to enhance electric mobility in India by deploying over 20,000 lithium-ion batteries and driving innovation in battery technology.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two companies aims to integrate Eastman’s advanced lithium-ion battery expertise with Urja Mobility’s innovative battery leasing solutions. By embedding Urja Mobility’s IoT and software systems into the batteries, the partnership will facilitate remote monitoring and analytics, enhancing efficiency and usability for electric vehicle operators. This solution targets the electric three-wheeler market, a crucial segment of India’s EV ecosystem, where Eastman already leads in e-rickshaw batteries.
The collaboration advances India’s sustainability goals by promoting electric mobility and reducing carbon emissions. It also tackles cost and efficiency challenges in EV adoption through Urja Mobility’s leasing model, which reduces upfront investment for drivers and fleet operators while providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
Shekhar Singal, Managing Director, Eastman Auto and Power Ltd, stated “Our cutting-edge lithium-ion battery technology, combined with Urja Mobility’s innovative leasing solutions, will play a crucial role in making sustainable transportation accessible to millions across the country. This collaboration aligns with India’s vision of reducing carbon emissions and advancing renewable energy solutions.”
Pankaj Chopra, Co-Founder and Director, Urja Mobility, added “This MoU is a big step forward in our mission to revolutionise transportation in India. By providing cost-effective and reliable battery solutions, we aim to empower drivers and contribute to India’s greener future.” The partnership is expected to strengthen Eastman’s position in the electric three-wheeler market while offering innovative solutions for sustainable mobility.”
